When Zeus discovered what Prometheus had done, he became enraged. He ordered Prometheus to be chained to Mount Caucasus. Every day, Zeus sent an eagle to peck at Prometheus's stomach and eat his liver, while the Titan could do nothing. Being a god, every night Prometheus would heal and the punishment would be repeated the next day.
Prometheus endured this torture for many years, but was finally freed by Zeus's son, the hero Hercules.
Prometheus suffered the same punishment every day.
